Cybersecurity Debt Permeates Organizations

April 8, 2022

The road to securing organizations starts with identities and closing the gap in cybersecurity debt. But CyberArk’s 2022 Identity Security Threat Landscape Report reveals otherwise. Organizations continue to suffer from a rapidly growing identity security problem and cybersecurity debt as many human and machine identities skyrocket.

Over 1,750 IT professionals worldwide in public and private sectors were surveyed for the study. Nearly 80% of organizations said security had to take a back seat with priorities focused on other business initiatives.

The survey also revealed the following results:

  • 40% said credential access was a leading risk factor of compromise in their organization
  • 52% of identities across business-critical applications are unprotected
  • 87% store secrets in multiple places in their DevOps environment
